Gjurmët LP gets a second edition

Gjurmët LP, for those that had no chance to read it before, is a memoir of Migjen Kelmendi on Kosovo’s ’80’s rock band Gjurmët. This little book is an elegant first hand account that unravels not only the works of the band but also the socio-political context of the time offering a multilayered perspective on what it meant to be a young Albanian in Yugoslavia at the time.  The second edition comes freshly designed with additional photographs and in hard cover. We are happy to announce that the book is in our shelves and it costs 15 euro.

The #FailedIntellectual | Eric Jarosinski

Join us for an evening with Eric Jarosinski, a former professor who has gone on to lead a very different life as a #FailedIntellectual online.
In exploring the comic potential of German language, literature, and philosophy on Twitter, his feed NeinQuarterly has gained a highly diverse global audience.
In his talk, moderated by Agon Maliqi, Eric will address the potential (and limitations) of adapting traditional modes of philosophical thought to a new technology with its own complex language, codes, and conventions. Throughout, he will discuss a strategy not of simplifying or popularizing philosophy, but of demystifying its terminology, gently toppling its idols, and playfully unsettling its authority.

The talk will take place on Thursday (2nd of June 2016) in dit’ e nat’.

The Complete Novels of Joyce on SALE

This week James Joyce’s hardcover novel collection is on sale! It is comprised of his most important works: Dubliners, A Portrait of the Artist as a Young Man, Ulysses and Finnegans Wake.

Now for ONLY 10 euros

James Joyce was an Irish novelist and a poet, considered one of the most influential modernist avant-garde of the early 20th century.
His innovations in the art of the novel include an extensive use of interior monologue; he used a complex network of symbolic parallels drawn from the mythology, history, and literature, and created a unique language of invented words, puns, and allusions.

Love loves to love love – this must be one of the most beautiful examples of it.

The Cat at Dit’ e Nat’

Dit’ e nat’ has often hosted writer’s groups, and from time to time people would share with us their work. We have been pleasantly surprised to receive a poem by Leslie Saunders who had been to Kosovo and served for Save the Children till 2011 – during this time she was also writing. “The Cat at Dit’ e Nat'” was inspired by us and our town. Enjoy!

PRISHTINA: Poetic Memories – Final Copy!

Prishtina: Poetic Memories is a display of images taken by an anonymous photographer portraying a city in transition. Decades later Valbona Shujaku finds these photographs and curates a rich book that documents a last century small town growing.

Prishtina: Poetic Memories was first published in 2011 and became somewhat of a popular souvenir of a city that until then existed only in our grandparents stories. The copies that we owned were sold very fast! However, we are happy to announce that while reorganizing our book depot we found a copy and it will be on our shelves as of today.
