Gent Rushi Trio this Friday

Gent Rushi is considered one of Albania’s jazz pioneers. Lately, in collaboration with fellow musicians he has founded the first Albanian independent jazz band called JAlbaniaZZ Society.
This upcoming Friday he plays in dit’ e nat’ with his good friend and extraordinary musician Ermal Rodi, the duo will be joined by one of the rare musicians who is capable to face them – the drummer Enes Bajramliqi!
This intimate concert is special for another reason too – it’s café-bookshop’s seventh birthday!

See you on Friday, we have great justifications to party hard!

Electrifying Jazz Trio Playing Tonight!

This trio has a powerful chemistry! Ilir and Enes are shadows of one another, continuously backing up or chasing very inspired improvisations; while Dugi uses this bed as trampoline to jump in!

It has been awhile since we listened to them last – Ilir Bajri (piano), Enes Bajramliqi (drums), Dukagjim Muhaxheri (saxophone).

See you tonight, please don’t wear a tie 🙂

The Cat at Dit’ e Nat’

Dit’ e nat’ has often hosted writer’s groups, and from time to time people would share with us their work. We have been pleasantly surprised to receive a poem by Leslie Saunders who had been to Kosovo and served for Save the Children till 2011 – during this time she was also writing. “The Cat at Dit’ e Nat'” was inspired by us and our town. Enjoy!

The Cat at Dit’ e Nat’
for the friends I left behind

Today I’ll drink a tiny hot espresso,
leave my lipstick on the doll-size china,

I’ll buy The Little Prince, his Sahara
an volcanos, me muzika dhe lulja

at Lulishte I’ll choose four pale rose
for Flora because it’s December,

and make a good luck wish or two
for the next Prime Minister Mimoza,

I’ll learn new sounds like vetëvendosje,
ahtisaari, më vjen keq and mirëdita

I’ll leave the melancholy Garbo on her shelf,
skim the pop-up book of new Prishtina,

I’ll cry so no-one hears me,
I’ll sing along the barmen’s sha-la-la,

I’ll stroke the ginger cat at Dit’ e Nat’
because it’s December me muzika, me lulja

Winter Preparations

Having a garden has changed the life of our bookstore – it’s much more spacious, full of light and finally we have a chance to experiment with greenery and plants. As the winter is approaching, we are not keen of the idea of shutting it down till spring. This is why we’ve decided to cover it partially so we can enjoy the change of seasons out there.

So bear with us – garden opens VERY soon!
